2016 Presidential Primary County by County Results

The Bureau of Elections is pleased to provide the 2016 Presidential Primary Results Download file. The file contains a breakdown of the County Election data in one convenient download. The download file will be updated each hour until all counties have reported. The file is in Excel format (.xls) and can be easily converted into a .csv file and/or imported into other programs.

Unique ID# of each county provided by the Michigan Bureau of Elections.

County Name

Name of county candidate is running in

Office Code

Codes created to identify offices and district numbers. The code is 8 digits and can be broken down as XX-XXX-XX-X

The first two digits denote the OFFICE CODE.

DISTRICT CODES: The next 3 digits denote the district number i.e. 00100 is the first district; 00200, etc.

The next 2 digits that denote divisions in the district court, i.e. 00101: First district, first division or 0020A; Second district division A. For Proposals (Office code 90) this is the ballot proposal number.

STATUS CODE: The last digit separates out offices when there is a need for additional uniqueness in the code. The code usually 0 unless there is a special election or there is a judicial slotting requiring a separate office in the data. The most common uses are listed below, but may vary.

0-Regular Term

1-Regular Term non-incumbent position (judicial only)

2, 3, 4–Partial Term incumbent position (judicial only)

5,6,7 - 4–Partial Term non-incumbent position (judicial only)

8 – Partial term

9 – Free form Description

Office Detail

Provides additional information for ballot proposals only.

Committee ID

Unique ID# within an election for each candidate provided by the Michigan Bureau of Elections. For state level candidates the number corresponds to the Candidate Committee filed under Michigan’s Campaign Finance Act. Federal candidates are provided a random negative number each election.

Candidate First Name

First name of the candidate running in the election as they requested it to appear on the ballot.

Candidate Last Name

Last name of the candidate running in the election.

Party Affiliation

Party affiliation of candidate. Judicial and candidate without party affiliation are designated with NPA = No Party Affiliation

County Total

Total votes provided by county. Results posted election night are unofficial and are subject to change.
