State and Local Candidate Committees

Campaign Statement Due Dates

State and Local Candidate Committees registered with the Michigan Department of State’s Bureau of Elections (State Level) or are registered with a county clerk’s office (Local Level) are required to file:

  • Annual Campaign Statements (See exemptions below)
  • Pre-Election and Post-Election Campaign Statements for elections where the candidate: appears on the ballot; seeks nomination through a party convention or caucus; or seeks office through a write-in campaign
  • Campaign Statements due in July and October in years where the candidate does not seek election
  • 48 Hour/Late Contribution Reports (See Appendix G)

CONVENTION CANDIDATES:
Candidates seeking nomination at a party convention must file additional campaign statements. See Convention Dates for further information.

Annual Campaign Statement Exemptions:

An Annual Campaign Statement is not required of:

  • A committee that qualifies for and maintains the $1,000.00 Reporting Waiver;
  • A committee that files a Post-Election Campaign Statement during December;
  • An incumbent Judge or Justice; or
  • An officeholder whose salary is less than $100.00 a month and whose committee has had no activity (receipts or expenditures) during the period covered by the Annual Campaign Statement.
